3 Ways You Can Help

1. Donate

Consider donating to our Give A Little campaign:

We have created the page to gauge public support and build momentum as we approach the larger funding foundations and businesses who might be able to help us purchase the forest. We have a number of key meetings this week so it is essential to keep raising this number!

2. Share

Spread our story, Give A Little campaign and the website (www.kohiforest.com) with your friends & whānau, especially if they have an audience. Word of mouth is often the best way to get people to care about something. If you have contacts in the media, please reach out to them and tell them about our issue!!

3. Distribute

Cards, letterbox flyers and posters are available via our website’s ‘downloads’ page which you can print and distribute amongst your community: www.kohiforest.com/downloads

Community Support

“In this short time you have painted a picture of what this green space can be - a strangled jewel that could become the beating heart of our community. Your website is engaging and truly connecting - you touch the heartstrings of how important this is from many aspects. The photography and presentation on your site is beautiful. You have captured the essence of all that is important. Your talk this evening won the hearts of everyone. There is an urgent need to stall the sale process and your words and this website bring us together in this important first step. I shall share this far and wide, and look forward to doing all I can to help our collective effort.”

“Absolute NO to development. We rail against Amazon deforestation but this is right in our back yard. Think global Act local.”

— M. Thomas

“Let's protect this beautiful part of Auckland.”

— S. Cathcart

“I live in Napier but regularly visit Kohimarama and have been privileged to walk through and enjoy your forest. I consider it a national treasure and essential both to the diversity of flora and fauna and the overall health of Aotearoa, let alone Auckland . I thank you for the efforts you are making to save this icon and support you from afar. I agree with the need for more housing but believe that without green spaces especially such as your forest our environment and wellbeing become unhealthy and vulnerable. Please keep up your good work and thank you again for your efforts.”

— J. Baillie

“Hi neighbours - keen to support the endeavours of neighbours to retain the previous bush if possible, for the enjoyment of nature and the community.”

— E. Collins

“We have enough land for housing, we don’t have enough land for our flora and fauna. Keep fighting for those who don’t have a voice.”

— P. Arthur

“Thank you so much for this fantastic website and initiative. I am a local involved in some of the previous planting efforts and am very keen to save and protect this forest treasure. I like the idea of crowdfunding to buy the land and have a passionate local group take care of it. If I think of any other ideas I will be in touch.”

— N. Baillie

“You guys rock, this website is so amazing.”

— E. Duff

“I have been looking with interest at your site and the vision you have for the wonderful play ground this valley provided for us children growing up in the early '60's. Many great memories.”

— B. Silvester

“A very useful web resource highlighting the critical green corridor value of this bushed residential area.”
